My Top 5 Long Wigs (So Far)

I have been wearing wigs for quite a few years now, and I've tried a lot of different kinds. Wigs are so fun, and they have been especially valuable in helping me enjoy long hair when mine is short. Overnight, I have long, luscious locks. But, like everything, some wigs can look great and some can prove to be … meh.

I know how intimidating it can be to choose from the huge array of styles available out there. So I thought I'd share my top 5 long wigs so far. I say “so far” because, well, I’m always ready to add more to my collection!

As you may know, long wigs work really well for people with oblong and rectangular face shapes, but they also work well for almost every face shape except triangular and pear. Most of these wigs on the list come in an array of colors, which makes them an option no matter what your skin tone. I’ll mention some of my favorite colors as we go, but no pressure to follow precisely in my footsteps. You want to choose colors that complement your own skin.

I’ll start with number five and move towards my favorite, but you should know that these are all pretty close together on my preference list.

Leighton in Queen of the Night

5. The Leighton Wig

The Leighton is brought to you by Wigs Forever, and they made it an unforgettable choice. It was one of my first wigs, and I was a little nervous about buying it as I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that would look terrible on me. Luckily, this wig looked great! The hair is very soft and the cap is comfortable for average to large head sizes. The open back and sides allow the wig to breathe really well, and the color – Queen of the Night Rooted – is so pretty.

Danica in Molten Copper-R

4. The Danica Wig

Molten Copper Rooted is my favorite color for this stunning wig, but you have tons of color choices beyond that. It has an average sized cap that can adjust for more petite or larger heads and there is a generous amount of elastic (though I don’t suggest it for extremely large or small heads). One of the best things about this wig is that it can be heat styled using temperatures up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Its default style is a light, open wave. And the wig has generously long bangs (fringe), which gives you great styling options.

Vaughn in Holographic Blonde-R

3. The Vaughn Wig

This one comes to you from Athens, GA and can be adjusted to fit a wide range of sizes. It’s a beautiful and versatile wig. It comes in some exciting colors, including Polar Ice Rooted, which gives you blue tips, and Holographic Blonde Rooted, which will literally frame your face with rays of rainbow. The Vaughn wig is also heat-resistant. So, though it comes with a lovely straight styling, you can use a flat iron or curling iron to give is a gentle wave or curl. I enjoy the Holographic Blonde color for this wig, but it’s hard to resist the Magenta Melt.

Mirabella in Prismatic Ebony-R

2. The Mirabella Wig

The Mirabella comes in a Black Magic color that is particularly popular, but I also enjoy it in Prismatic Ebony Rooted, because there’s nothing like celebrating Pride with your hair color! It fits average to large size requirements. It has a great natural part and some delightful bangs. This wig in not heat resistant, but it comes with such a fun, bouncy wave that you won’t miss that feature in the slightest. I find myself popping this one on for those especially vibrant occasions.

Bardot in Faded Denim-R

1. The Bardot Wig

I love this wig. When I think of the Bardot wig, I think of something fun and alternative but with real class and shape to it. The alternative part comes from the colors it comes in – I especially love Faded Denim Rooted. And the class comes from the shape and fall of the hair. The wig has a nice wave to it. Plus, you can heat style it to bring out the wig’s delightful volume. I recommend styling because you can make the 12-inch fringe that the wig has in the front into a beautiful, face-complementing swoop.

I hope these options bring you some ideas and clarity for your own wig-buying journey. No matter what your reason for adding a new wig to your life, we at HairKittyKitty are here for you.
